Simon a physicist, and lifelong aviation and rocketry enthusiast based in Calgary. Grounded by a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Astronomy from the University of Saskatchewan, Simon approaches complex technical challenges with an empirical, data-driven mindset. Professionally, he operates as a Principal Petrophysicist with over two decades of specialized expertise in reservoir characterization, heavy oil, and advanced thermal monitoring workflows, leading Stirling Consulting Petrophysics Corp. after previous tenures with Cenovus Energy and SLB. His passion for flight spans decades, beginning with an Air Cadet gliding scholarship in 1989 flying Schweizer gliders at RGS CFB Penhold. This early aviation foundation carried forward into his service as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Reserve from 1991 to 2000. Today, he remains active in the aviation community as a light aircraft co-owner of a Cirrus. Yes the plane with a parachute. Complementing his professional career and aviation background, Simon has spent over twenty years immersed in high-power rocketry. A born again Rocketeer, he can remember launching his first kit at age 9, 'the challenger' and since then have always been fascinated by rocketry and remote sensing. Been in hiatus for a few years but..plans are afoot on the work bench!
